I have a specific use for this rake: raking a gravel driveway to get up the sweet gum balls/prickly balls. I was not sure if the tines would be too far apart or not. This rake works great for this job! It takes less effort than a standard rake because of the angle and width of the tines. It does a better job for this task than a standard fan-type, flat tined rake.

Gathers more per pass than standard fan rake. Large pine cones get stuck between tines. Tine at outside edge both sides jumps over retaining tab and has to be reinstalled.

Dislike that the female plastic attachment is not threaded. It is smooth plastic with one hole to either nail or screw it in to a wood pole. I was hoping to attach it to a telescoping pole with a male threaded end.

This is gentler on my grass than plastic of flat-tine metal rakes, good for first-year light raking. At the same time, putting a little pressure on the stroke really tears out thatch with minimal green blade "overshoot". The tines hold the leaves/thatch tight, reducing repeat strokes when raking. Dry leaves do stick into the sharper tines much more so than other designs, but an upside-down wipe (think wrist-to-lawn rather than fingers-to-lawn) of the rake against the lawn scoots off 90% of the stuck on leaves with one stroke. The other crux advantage of this design is being able to rake on top of mulch without flinging the mulch everywhere. The tines can get bent more easily than flat ones, but are replaceable and are largely hand re-shapeable; used with care this thing will perform great for many seasons.

I was looking for a good rake to remove thatch from my lawn, I have St Augustine grass which is very thick and hard to rake without damaging by pulling out the grass along with the thatch, this rake head worked perfectly, it’s well built, very sturdy and it didn’t pull the grass up and was easily pulled through the grass.

I ordered this rake because of the great reviews and it's superior ability to dethatch a lawn. It lived up to all the hype. I dethatched my front yard today in 3 hours. My arms and shoulders are shredded but my lawn is thatch free. I ordered just the head as the head and handle were selling for around $100. I was definitely not paying that much. I received the head which included the tines and rivet but no handle. Luckily I am an electrician and had a 6' piece of 3/4" emt laying around in the garage. It served as an absolutely perfect handle. It is strong and fits perfectly without even installing the rivet. I strongly recommend this rake for all things lawn. Pick one up today and you will not he sorry.

We had to trim a tree which had a large limb that was a safety concern and had a ton of leaves. My neighbor offered to help me and when I pulled out my old trusty rake, he said try this and he handed me your rake. Man what a difference. It cleaned without getting plugged and just felt sturdy in my hands. We put my rake aside and used his for the rest of the job. I asked where got his rake, and he told me that he had a tree taken down by a professional tree removal company, and the owner gave him the rake. SO I had just put a new handle on my old rake and decided to purchase your rake head and replace the head of my old rake.

The rake head is awesome. Hardly any effort and I'm getting so much thatch. Also a great rake for leaves and other areas. The price had just gone up for the full rake on Amazon so I decided to just buy the head. The shipping was fast and it arrived without any damage. I just popped a 15/16 inch broom handle in the head and added a screw. Works great and saved me a ton of money.
