They are nice and heavy duty, but they should have rubber feet to prevent damage/rust when they are tightened down into the van roof. As others have stated the wrenches are pos and bend easily. The bolts are super hard to get to unless you have a thin wrench

I actually have two full sets of these on my van now. They are inexpensive, solidly built, and pair well with 80/20 style DIY rack systems. All that said, the mounting process is so maddening and difficult to service that it almost warrants spending the hundreds dollars more to buy a name brand rack set up. On my RAM 2500 you have to reach over the rack and use their proprietary wrench, which will almost certainly bend out of shape and become unusable in the process of installing the racks, to tighten the reverse tension mounts. The space where the wrench mounts on the nut and will actually tighten or loosen is about 1/4 turn and the wrench has to be awkwardly reset over and over. A job that should take 5 minutes will take 45 at least. I check mine every couple of months to make sure it isn’t loose by pinging and shaking the rack. Actually accessing the nuts to check their tension with the now broken and apparently irreplaceable wrenches is not practical without removing everything mounted to the racks and even then would be difficult to determine. I shutter to think the cussing fest that it is going to be if I ever replace this rack with an alternative system.

Finish and fit of the bracket is great. The wrenchs that it came with are completely useless and don't fit the bolt heads at all. Bought 6 of them for every point on the roof rack.

I haven't bought these yet, but I'm considering them for a ladder rack and the solar panel accident review caught my eye. I certainly don't want them failing. While their intention to warn of a poor product for the saftey of others is well placed, Angelle is mistaken in blaming these mounting brackets for the incident. As you can see in the photos so kindly provided, the brackets are intact. What failed is the T posts factory mounted on the Promaster roof. You can see the round bottom of the post in the middle of the base of the bracket; the T end is still in the bracket. The T-posts are intended to support brackets under weight of cargo. What likely happened here is the solar panel actually experienced substantial lift due to low pressure above it as air passed over it at highway speed. This was apparently enough to pull the T posts right out of the van roof and send the panel into the air landing on the other side of the hwy.Thankfully no one was harmed by the panels, and thank you Angelle for sharing. I plan on adding panels to my van, and had I not read this, I may have made the same mistake. Drill and bolts are the way to go for sure, and I suggest the biggest bolts and as many as possible. All that said, given the brackets actually held strong while the integral T posts failed, I'm actually impressed by the product and will likely be buying a set soon.

Nice overall product. Seems well built. Installation is a bit tedious and the supplied custom wrench is too large for supplied hardware. Wrench fits 9/16inch/14mm bolt head, but supplied hardware requires 1/2inch/13mm wrench. Had to modify one of my own wrenches.Updated review: Company issued partial refund due to wrenches that did not work. Bumped up to 4-star. Would be a 5-star if I didn’t have to bend my own wrench to install.

I bought these about a month ago. I did not want to put holes in the roof of my new Ram Promaster van. These mounts seemed like a good solution. They look good and attached easily for my solar install. Driving down the interstate today in NM I heard a creaking sound so I stopped to make sure the panels were still attached. They were attached solidly to the van. 900 feet later my son screamed out for me to stop the van. The panels flew off the roof onto the side of the interstate. We were not hurt and the people behind my van moved to the other side apparently. Thank God. But these mounts got all twisted up as you can see. The wind was blowing strong but I would have liked to believe that unless these were Hurricane winds these mounts should have held onto the Ram Promaster “pegs” or roof mounts out whatever you call those things the van comes with. I bought another set of these to use in case I needed to use more mounts when I did the install but I used the two that were right next to each other. They should have held. I’d be scared to use these again. I’m returning the extra set I bought. I won’t take a chance like that again. I have to get something more stable.
