I received two of these. One original order and one replacement both the same both defective. Wouldn’t expand or collapse. I took the second one apart. No spring, no gas, no piston. Nothing but a 1/4 inch rod with a ball joint on each end??? I h Ave no idea how this thing was ever supposed to work. Returned both for a refund.

No instructions. Strut locked open upon arrival. Not worth it...

Rampage skimped on the strut. It is two inches too short and will not hold the back door completely open. They need to replace the struts for those of us who bought it and leave us to deal with the extra holes we will have to drill to do the install correctly.

It is able to hold the rear gate open even on a hill. The only thing bad is that it is not long enough to hold the door at a 90 degree angle to the opening. This causes the rubber strip on the glass to rub when opening the glass on the metal of the tailgate.
