It's fun.It does have great storage for bottle jacks and socket sets and wrenches etc....Every tray is has no locks so you take that tray to that jobIt is heavy for sure without anything in it but you don't get this thinking its geared toward logic. Its cool, its fun, it fits in and jerry can rack mounted to your bumper or bed... that good enough for me.There are a million options for tool boxes but for me, its just fun and definitely enough get out of trouble storage for the weekend warrior guy like me.

Purchased this for someone who is hard to buy for - if they want something, they’ve already bought it! While that tempts one to just send an Amazon gift card, a skinny card is not the same as a gift wrapped package. It arrived before the scheduled arrival, which was nice. The box though was damaged extensively and had been taped back together. I was worried about that - no way was that can intact inside that mess! But it was unscathed- to my intense relief. It’s double packed, and the inside packaging served its purpose. It was a little heavier than I expected. The locking mechanism needed a little lube to get it moving a little more freely, but that was a simple process. I had been a little worried because some of the reviews I had read were less than complementary. I was very pleased - it was nicer than I was expecting. It’s a great way to disguise a small tool kit in plain sight. It’s construction seems heavy and rugged and should hold up well. It is something I would purchase again for the right person.

The opening mechanism contains a simple lock but it too is all steel construction, with a set of nice steel keys that won't break off while opening. The draws don't use glides, just basic felt tracks that allows the draws to slide in and complete out with ease. Paint job is good, no under sprayed areas on the drawers, inside, etc. Comes with custom cut "no slip" sheets that fit each drawer.It is weatherproof because all the joins use folds that direct any water away from the seems. It will take only some self applied weather stripping to seal it even tighter. The key slot is also self closing which will aid in waterproofing. Yearly application of some silicone lubricant to the hinges and lock should keep it rust free for years. Excellent purchase!

Got this for my truck and so far, I'm happy with the purchase. Pros: Cool/unique/retro design, well-made (all metal construction, no sharp metal edges), good size with (2)convenient pull-out drawers and (1) removable tray, storage slots on the swing-out door is a handy feature along with the armature that you can extend to keep the lid open, and I really like that the whole thing is lockable. Cons: As noted by another reviewer, durability might be an issue because the hinges seem flimsy & undersized (although I understand why they chose not to put larger hinges- it would affect the smooth look and may stick out too much). The drawers have no stops. The paint finish isn't consistent- the outside is smooth with a high gloss red finish & the drawers have a textured surface with an off-color red (maybe this was intentional?). Finally, I'm not crazy about the big logo- wish they left it off (or made it a sticker so that I could peel it off). Overall, happy with the product and highly recommended.

Let me first state that the solid metal design is nice, unfortunately mine came with huge gouge marks that were obviously put in from the factory since they were covered up by the packaging. Amazon compensated me for the this and I used break caliper paint to seal it up, so I won't hold too much against them for this. Now onto the design flaws. The storage space just isn't that efficient. The front expects you to put screwdrivers in, the problem is they don't leave enough room for the handles, so the only ones that fit are short ones that flop around because they aren't long enough for it to fit through the bottom hole. I'd rather have smaller drawers or something then the 2 large ones, you know like standard socket height and deep socket height etc. Instead your just left with a lot of empty space. Lastly if they designed the lock / open mechanism different you could possibly leave it locked up outside but as it stands it will just pool water in the lock / opening mechanism.

I bought this tool box for my boyfriend for our anniversary. He is a mechanic and an old car fanatic, so this was an excellent gift for him. He absolutely loved the box. He even mounted it to his 1962 Super Beetle, which is army themed, so the gas can appearance is a really neat addition. It's a great tool box, it holds everyday necessities and on-the-go fix-it tools nicely, and the lock is a wonderful bonus, because he can drive the car around town and not have to worry about anybody getting to his tools. I would definitely recommend this tool box for any car lover or anyone who'd just like a fun and interesting form to a functional tool box :)

This is the coolest idea yet. I dont have any tools inside of it yet but it comes with plenty of room for the basics and is well built. I would be easy on the lid a bit so that you never bend the hinge but other then that this thing is ready for some abuse. Comes with a key to lock it and padding for each drawer to quite the vibrations of your tools. Good price thanks to AMAZON!
