I got this book press for the simple and not-usual purpose of helping me to assemble my fake book boxes. The first set of fake books I got is lovely and, out of all of them, I love its covers the most, but assembling them turned out to be an absolute mess. Working with the double-sided tape seemed to be simple at first but, over time, it gradually loosened. When trying to put it back together, even with glue, somehow I invariably ended up getting part of it crooked.In other words, I've made a mess of things.All book presses and flower presses operate under rather simple principles. They're two solid pieces of wood that press something between them using four ginormous bolts that are gradually tightened down in unison. The virtue of a good book press is one that is well-made enough to have wood that does not flex, bolts that do not shift and are easy to tighten, and an overall polished appearance that will neither scar nor snag the delicate pages that we place within it. This lovely book press has all of these virtues in spades, while also having an easy carry handle and being of a size enough to handle books as large as full sheets of paper. As a bonus, all of the bolts are capped, so that they don't accidentally stab you (as I've had happen in the past).I haven't had the time to sit down and use this for what I need it for, but I'm making a mental note to get a Burt's Bees beeswax lip balm and run it along the bolts before I install them. From the look of the reviews, sticky bolts might be a problem, but such problems also come with simple solutions. I'm so very glad to have this to hold my book boxes in place while the glue on them dries!

I'm on my fourth book with this book press. It works really good when it works however the holes that the boats go through are just barely big enough for the boats to go through. If you do not lift it up absolutely perfectly level it binds up and it is almost impossible to get it unbound without completely taking it apart each time. They should have made the holes a little bit larger and it would have worked so much better. Very frustrating

it works well .the stuff is alittle cheap but its a good beginners set .shipping took forever keep being delayed to process to ship even though it said 1 day shipping. the board its self came chipped in places but i can’t afford to wait anymore to get a one in a better condition.

I've been working on junk journalling which has had some rudimentary book binding. When I saw this book press I figured it couldn't hurt to have one.Of course I've never used one OR done any actual book binding before, but that never stops me from buying a craft supply!Once I found a proper tutorial, it was so simple to use this. It's well made with a nut holding the screws onto the bottom board, so when removing the wingnuts from the top board, you don't have to worry about everything shifting and getting wobbly. I love that there is an acorn nut for the top of the posts, which will keep me from inevitably injuring myself.
