This is a bittersweet story. Recently, our adult daughter has moved in with us to save money, and she brought her small dog with her. We all love her dog ... especially our big dog. They're best friends. But our two cats have been anything but happy. Where they used to tolerate our big, slow lab, they are not fans of the little dog who likes to chase cats. As a result, they've been mostly hiding in the basement in my office, and they were afraid to come sleep with us at night. Not a good life for these two lovely cats. When our next door neighbor's 21 year old cat passed away, they said they would like to get two cats so they'd have each other to play with. We'd been feeling really bad about our cats' situation for several months, so we suggested the neighbors come over and visit our cats and we could chat about them fostering our cats for a while, or even taking them full-time if everyone (especially the cats) is OK with the situation. Well, the cats have now been next door for a month and they're loving it.That's where these great little balls come in. I can't help still spoiling "my" cats, so I still buy toys for them. One of them has always loved various versions of a little blue ball, so I got him this set. And he loves them! The neighbors tell me he's chasing them all over the house, which makes me smile. I think they're happier in their new, dog-free home. We've visited them several times, and usually find them sitting on their new family's laps. Things are going well.

I got these for my kitties. They both love running after different little balls and most of them have bells in them. These do not and are quiet. When we are sleeping at night, for some reason, the cats get the zoomies. I came across these and thought that I would give them a try. As soon as I opened the box bot of my cats had to see what they were. They couldn't wait! I gave them each one before I took the picture so they would leave me to take some pictures. I received all that was advertised. They are soft but are firm. They have a little bounce to them and are durable. I have one cat that love to run around with one in his mouth and it has not ripped, torn or been punctured. Once these are worn out I will be buying more. You get plenty for your money and are worth the price. Highly recommend.

Got these for my cats, and they like them. They are a bright orange, so they're easily found when lost under the couch. Also, they're soft, but not spongy. They don't bounce much either. One of my cats likes to play "fetch," so these balls come in handy. They're also pretty light too.I've also played with the outdoor cats, and I can see them around the yard, so they're not easily lost.Overall, I'm happy with these since my cats like them.

Years ago, I had these soft foam balls painted to look like soccer balls that my cat absolutely adored. He would play fetch, bringing the ball back for me to throw until my arm ached. So, when one of my new cats started showing the same fetch behavior, but with a pompom-like ball that isn't round and is very hard to throw, I set out to get the foam balls again. This is where assumption and reality often clash. When this listing said foam ball cat toy, and even used the word soft, I saw those balls from so long ago. These are not squishable. They're not hard or heavy. Throwing them does not mean broken dishes or whatever else might get in the way (unless you throw really hard, I suppose), but neither are they soft enough to squish. If you stood on them, you would slip because they won't compress significantly under your weight.Oddly enough, when you'd think a firmer ball would bounce better, these are just heavy enough not to bounce much when they hit something (or not to rebound much when they do), but not heavy or firm enough to bounce a lot (like a tennis or racket ball). I had hoped for some bouncing behavior to help out in getting the ball to the end of the hallway and making recovery a little more challenging for my cats, but the balls are still light enough for me to throw them reasonably far. They do bounce a little bit, but more like a dead ping-pong ball than anything bouncy. Here is the most important part: my cats like them.I got the balls for the one cat who showed interest in a throwing game. When I tossed the ball a couple of times for that cat, though, two others became curious and joined in the chasing if not retrieval of the balls (I added two more so they would each have one to return). The first cat doesn't really appreciate this since his playing field is cluttered now, and one of the three is older and relearning how to play without taking it too seriously so there is hissing and growling. Ultimately, though, the balls offer a way for my indoor cats to get some exercise. Maybe someday all three will run after and return the balls to me.Several of the balls have teeth marks, but none has experienced a loss of integrity so far. Bottom line, I miss the bouncing, but otherwise, as long as no one slips on one, these will do well. My cats like them, and so do I.Then before I could post this, one of the other two has spent the morning playing with one of the balls, bouncing it off walls, around corners, and inserting it into places that are difficult to get it back out of. He has also made the ball resemble the moon with teeth marks on all sides and some quite deep. However, the ball is still a ball. Unlike those lighter foam balls of long ago, he has not chipped off any bits, and the ball still throws fine. They are big enough I don't have to worry about the cats swallowing them, either. My husband threw out one of the balls after it had been thoroughly gnawed until pieces were starting to get loose, and I threw out another for the same reason. Once they are no longer spherical, the compression stops keeping the ball viable. We have been trying to get the boys teething toys ever since we adopted them. Nothing took whether intended for cats or small dogs. Either they would destroy the toys immediately or showed no interest in them. These balls might not be long for this purpose, but the boys are gnawing them down to bits, which helps keep their teeth strong and clean.Between happily teething on the foam balls rather than their humans or humans' stuff and choosing to play with the foam balls on their own, these are very much a success in my eyes even if they won't last that long. It makes sense why they come in such a large pack. Maybe the cats will realize the dead ones disappear and stop gnawing them to bits before their all gone. So far, we're still only down four of twelve, though there are several missing, so I can't speak to whether they're still balls or looking more like an asteroid than the moon. This means the balls are short-lived in my household, but definitely enjoyed.
