Just received these today and immediately through them in my Granite, was really looking forward to getting these angle gears as opposed to the straight gears Arrma puts in stock. Figuring it with lower some of the noise and give smoother transition to power. So far I'm very pleased, they run extremely well. You do have to reuse your old differential housing so that adds a few minutes to the install.. obviously I'm going to prefer it if it included a new differential housing but you can buy one if you want or just reuse your old one. I don't think there's any need to waste money buying a differential housing, some parts need to be upgraded in some parts are upgraded just for cosmetic reasons, I don't see a cosmetic reason to upgrade a part that you're never going to see anyway.. well hopefully you won't.Either way vehicle does run smooth, I think it may be a little quieter and should be more ready to take on my future 4S upgrade that I have coming up.

Arrma's metal differential upgrade kit comes with the same housings and bearings as the stock ones, so it's not really necessary. This one, by removing that, cuts the overall cost by about $25. The differential and yoke will swap over in place of the original differentials using the bearings and housings from stock. It's a smart way to cut costs without sacrificing on quality. These are made basically the same as Arrma's with sintered ring, pinion and spider gears. The main differences are the aluminum case and helical cut gears instead of straight cut like on the Arrma upgrade diffs. In theory this should make these quieter over Arrma's but I honestly could not really tell the difference between the two. They're both pretty loud compared to composite gears. The build quality of these is pretty much on par with Arrma's, but in theory these should be slightly more resilient. Not so much with helical cut gears, but in this application it doesn't make a tangible difference so it's kind of a moot point. The fluid used in these is also pretty much the same as Arrma's. It's kind of in the middle of the spectrum and offers a good balance between traction, controllability and power transfer.I see the niche these are trying to fill and I think it's a solid way to go. There's no reason to spend an addition $25 for a part you don't even need. If you're inclined to replace the housings for some reason you can pair these up with aluminum housings and come to about the same price or just run the stock ones and probably be fine. I've heard the plastic housings stretch under heavy load, but despite having a seriously rowdy Castle 4S setup, that has not been my experience. These are a solid value and can get you into the metal diffs game at a lower cost once you turn your composite diffs into confetti. So far they're holding up really well. They feel pretty much the same as Arrma's boost box. Pretty rad little diffs and even though no one can see it, you have pretty colors tucked in-between your wheels and they don't.
