The winch works hooked up to a separate battery but the control box doesn't work at all so it's pretty much useless

Cute - haven't put it to the test but I'll bet it will be plenty powerful. power required 7 volts likely more powerful motor.

**WARNING** Complete hunk of crap! Don't waste your money! Right out of the box, never turned on, stripped gears! Their ad says "Perfect Gear" more like Perfect turd! I'd would return it, but unfortunately I put a dean plug on before testing it....
