This replacement derailleur is decently made, economical, and is a good fit and easy install for many mountain bikes. It's mostly plastic, light weight, and moves smoothly, so there's a lot to like about those aspects. There are some made-to-price-point concerns that hit on durability and adjustability: the stop screws are a coarse wood-screw thread that is difficult to get right on the adjustment, and fine adjustment is somewhere between frustrating and impossible. "Good enough" is the theme there. The pulleys are plastic and without bearings, so a bit sloppy, again, good-enough, but little more than that. The cable routing bends back and forth and wears the cable over the adjuster, and fatigues at the clamp end, reducing the cable life there. For a recreational bike that will see more miles riding in the car on the way to the park, than actual riding miles, again, good-enough, but for anything more than occasional use, I'd recommend sticking to the major brands for a better (although to be fair, more expensive) product.

is a pretty basic bare bones derailleur, but it's a reasonable derailleur for a value option. I installed it on a mid drive ebike conversion of a KHS mountain bike and have had no problems so far.Mechanically it works fine, shifts well, and is easy to adjust. But it's important to note this is a non-clutched derailleur. If you plan on doing a lot of rough riding, this is probably not the best choice. There are lighter and fancier options, but mechanically this is tried and true technology that should hold up well.

Super budget friendly 9speed derailleur that can be upped to 10 if you get a wolftooth roadlink. The microshift derailleur is a great choice that lasts and works well enough with a wide range cassette. Keep in mind this is NOT an advent , it's the microshift that goes on budget bikes.

I just got this and wanted to put this review up for everyone to see before they purchased. The rear derailleur I got is labeled as a MicroSHIFT 9-speed, part number: RD-M219L.I did a search for the compatibility and didn't have much luck finding any info on this specific derailleur. I don't know if it's compatible with Shimano, SRAM, or it's a proprietary MicroSHIFT pull ratio. Best I can tell is that it looks like the 6/7 speed M21L, but only a 9 speed version? I don't know as this particular one is not listed on the MicroSHIFT website. It's a mystery. So, I did get exactly what was pictured but unfortunately there's not much info out there about it. It's definitely long cage and seems to be made decently well, but I'm not mounting this to anything until I know exactly what type of shifter I need for it.Honestly, I'd buy one that states exactly what you're getting and the specific part number. That way you can search compatibility ahead of time and not be left guessing with a part that you cannot find any info for.

Microshift is a well-known brand that is value for the money. Just like others I had it's not the lightest but functional and durable item. The long cage design helps to reach 34T cog to 11T cog without any issue on my hybrid with 50/34T front. I would say it's better than Tourney & close to Alivio from Shimano. For everyday use and light competitive riding this should be fine for 99% of the people, as shifts are precise enough and its a just a copy of Shimano design.

I got this as a replacement for my eight speed mountain bike. Had the adjustment screws vibrate out of the last one so I’ve been looking for an inexpensive replacement. It’s just a cheap box store bike that I got on clearance so I didn’t want to put a bunch of money into a new derailer. This one feels similar in quality to what was on there already. It doesn’t have a clutch like my other derailer did, but I don’t ride anywhere that’s too rough anyway, so it should be just fine.

MicroShift components in general are an excellent value. Not super fancy or ultra lightweight. Just simple and reliable mechanical shifting at a great price. Installed this one on my winter bike. It shifts flawlessly.
