It works fit as expected, sometimes the hatch randomly unlocks, but that was happening with the old lock, so the fault might be somewhere else!

It looks like it's basically interchangeable to the original latch assembly. I ordered this after diagnosing the problem with her Foresters rear hatch, but of course the day after I placed the order her old one decided to start working again. I'll keep it handy for when it's needed.These latch from the action of closing the hatch, and unlatch via an electric motor and gear train. The latch reset is provided by a coil spring. Her latch wasn't resetting so when you closed the hatch it wouldn't lock closed. That spring wasn't resetting the latch after the motor opened it.If this happens to you, you can manually operate it after removing the small access panel that's inside the hatch over the latch unit.
