I have a couple of high end guitars (Taylor, Guild). I’ve also owned lower end guitars (Harmony, Fender). I was looking for a cheaper acoustic to put a LL Bags magnetic pickup in to play some old time country tunes when I gig. This guitar’s sound was just ok, but the craftmanship is terrible. It arrived with a ding in the back. The material used for the fretboard was very cheap. I get that it’s supposed to look like a guitar from the ‘30’s, but it’s not going to hold up with the materials it’s made with. The action was a little high, but it’s really not worth paying someone to fix it. The frets were not smooth and they buzzed when I played bar chords on the higher frets. It also buzzed when I put a capo on past the third fret. It’s not going to hold up if your looking for a camping or beach guitar. One little bang and it’s going to ding..big time. I don’t suggest this for beginners. The neck is not smooth, the action is high. It’s not easy to play. Needless to say, this is getting returned.

I purchased this guitar as an extra to keep next to my chair. After 6 months the paint on the neck cracked at every fret and after one year the neck was warp to where it was unplayable. I tried to contact Recording King company on their website and never received a reply.

The guitar arrived with terrible quality control. It had a crack in the top and the back. Chipped paint on the front and back. The tuning pegs were not seated properly and were bent which made tuning impossible. I returned the guitar and was promised a replacement but never received one.

The workmanship and sound is incredible at any price. The neck felt a bit to thin for my taste.

Mine came with a crack right under the bridge, and some minor artifacts from being made in a Chinese factory with half decent quality control such as a little bit of wood burring coming out of the truss rod adjuster port and some of the bracing having chipped off inside. That being said; I would buy again in a heart beat. The tone and voice of this little single O guitar is booming and clear.Action comes nice and low for easy fretting, frets were decent enough that I won’t worry about getting them shaved down any time soon.Really, for an introductory guitar that you may be learning how to play and care for, this guitar can’t be beat.I’m absolutely blown out of the water regarding sound quality and volume. You wouldn’t believe it if you saw it sitting next to a dreadnaught.

It'd be nice if it had a1 3/4" neck for finger-picking but it doesn't.

so I found myself stop playing Martin 0015 ever since I got this baby. The playability out of the box is great. You can both finger pick and strum. The highs are bright and the lows are well represented. It is certainly a steal for the money.

I truly am impressed with this Recording King guitar AND every guitarist I've let play it so far feels the same way. This guitar plays, sounds and looks as good as guitars 3x the price. Action is perfect out of the box, the tone is warm and just bright enough. Factory setup is extremely playable IMO and I haven't needed to make any adjustments in the two months or so I've been playing it. I would feel very comfortable 'recording' with this little lovely, in fact I'm eager to do so! It sounds awesome fingerpicking and with a metal slide... get your MOJO working and buy one!
