Back Flow Preventer
A backflow preventer is installed before the hot water heater and works by allowing the water to pass only through it in the direction of the hot water heater. It does not allow water to pass through it from the other way. This keeps the hot water from entering back into the tubing and getting into the cold water supply. Made of brass, it's drinking water safe, durable, and rust-resistant. It measures 2-1/8" long and is easily installed through the two 1/2" male threads on either side.

The backflow preventer was a more durable replacement for the plastic one that came with our camper. Like most plastic parts, the plastic cracked causing a water leak. The brass replacement will last much longer!

My RV technician did not use this as part of my tankless water heater installation. I've been trying to return it and RecPro has not responded to my attempts to return it. It says on Free returns and is supposed to be easy to do. This is not the case and I've filled out several requests to return it with no response.

a tech on an RV repair site suggested this for the issue with my water heater and water not coming out of the tank. It screw right in and fixed the problem immediately.
