I installed this item. It works great however I installed it about a inch off and couldn’t close my hood however I called to customer Service and they returned my call within 30 minutes asked me to take some pictures and diagnose the problem and it is now working perfectly

What a great product, they work very well on my Tacoma, however if you think you’re gonna squeeze those hefty rivets by hand think twice! I know I need to workout more but crap! I ended up getting a 12v rivet puller which pulled those rivets like a hot knife thru butter!

These hood struts make every task under the hood more enjoyable. So glad I installed these! If you are an avid DIYer, this should be no problem for you. The included instruction sheet is very detailed and has many clear photos for each step. Good customer service, too.

On a Tacoma, when you install the bottom bracket, make sure you're measuring from the correct vertical on the body. There are vertical places you could possibly measure from and if you measure from the wrong one, your hood won't close. However, that gave me the opportunity to call customer support. And even though it was my mistake and I called them after hours, the guy was wonderful. Not only is this product, pretty cool because it makes my hood that weighs some ungodly amount open up easy and stay open without me doing anything... But it opens up a whole lot wider. For the record, one of the struts can totally hold the hood up, but you want it to be supported evenly and it did not make it terribly difficult to close the hood.If I could give these folks a bonus star I certainly would.

The Redline hood struts work great. The installation was very easy using the directions that are included with the struts. I watched a couple of You Tube videos before installing then. I purchased the longer struts, so the measurements are different than some of the videos. I followed the directions step by step and no problems were encountered. Drilling up into the hood very slowly my drill bits I used are very aggressive. You could easily go up through the hood if you're pushing the drill. Now when you push the hood release in the cab of the truck. The hood pops up enough so you can easily reach in and release the hood latch. With a little assistance at the start. The hood goes up by itself.

I got spoiled by the gas spring hood lifts that came on my Subaru Outbacks. So this was one of the first modifications to my 2023 Tacoma. Quite easy to install. Read the instructions fully, front to back first!Suggestion: In addition to wrapping the drill bit with electrician tape, I strongly recommend sliding a 1/16 inch piece of sheet aluminum or steel behind the part you are drilling. That serves as a very positive stop to prevent damaging the hood top sheet metal in case the tape doesn't work as a drill bit stop. This is from many years of experience of drilling upward into hood webs.
