Lens replacement is cheap, both feel and look. The entire unit is plastic. The black adapter from lens to ring that tightens around the Refractometer, along with the ring, are made of plastic. The ring that comes with the unit from the factory is metal and much more rigid.I am not sure this is an actual Reed replacement part. For $40 this is a joke. Feels and looks like it came off of a children's toy.

I don't have a REED unit, but took a gamble in ordering this as a replacement lens for my Milwaukee refractometer that broke off and I eventually lost. Fit on my unit perfectly saved me a bunch of money not having to buy a new one.
