Works as advertised. This is a sharpener for Reel Push Mowers, not gas mowers.

In my small (only 18 units, 2 stories) we have an older Scotts rotary mower. It has been through "tough times", and I get bored. Before, I had oiled it, replaced some screws, and made it "purr". The owner, who is also a Veteran has "laughed" at me over "repairing that old thing".It worked, but didn't cut, anything. This gadget also gave me a "learning moment", because I was considering taking it apart, and using a grinder/sharpener. Nope. Though I still have to put more time in, to make sure all the blades cut like the ones that took me less than 10 minutes to "try out this new gadget", it works, and works well. Also, I really like the design, with the end sharpener being able to be used for tight spots.

This reel mower sharpener is a handy tool if you're looking to keep your lawn mower blades in good shape. The sharpener has two slots—one for the bed knife and one for the reel blades—making it easy to sharpen both parts. Using it is straightforward: just place the sharpener on the blade and run it back and forth. This is so much easier than using my dremel because it's much smaller in size.

As someone with a generic reel mower, I got this sharpener anyway. The black plastic side supports were catching on the blade supports of my reel blade. So I took an angle grinder with a metal cutoff wheel and shortened each of the black pieces about an eighth of an inch. Voila. I have a working sharpener now for my random mower.

I should have read more carefully before ordering. "Lawn mower blade sharpening" caught my eye, but this is specifically for a Reel style mower. I can't evaluate the tool.

Currently restoring a push mower, and this has been great. I was originally using a wetstone, but this sharpener is much faster and safer. I'm quite satisfied!

According to my husband, this is exactly what he was looking for. He says it sharpens the blades on his mower wonderfully and works better than the wet stone he was using. Easy to hold, easy to use, an all-around win.
