This is handier than I thought! My freezer doesn't have a light to show me that the power is on so I can monitor the temp inside the freezer without opening the door and letting the cold air out. Interesting to know the current, high, and low temps of the inside freezer and the room temp too. I'm considering ordering another one to monitor my fridge too.

My 5th wheel refrigerator is wonky so now I can confirm the lettuce isn't freezing without opening the door.

Temperature seems to go up and down a lot on a brand new freezer. Not sure if that’s normal.

Item: Refrigerator ThermometerSeller: UrageuxyTL;DR: It works, and it works with NiMH batteries.Have a chest freezer with frozen meats that broke down a while ago unbeknownst to me - the stench upon opening was unforgettable. After sanitizing the unit and repairing the broken part (also sold on amazon), decided to get a thermometer to make sure I wouldn't have to smell rotting flesh again. Should have just went with a wireless unit originally since even with reasonably flat wires, frost would build up where it entered the freezer.Although the unit recommends using li-ion batteries to power the part that will be inside the chest (since li-ion works better at sub-zero temps), NiMH batteries work just as well. Just let spent battery go back to room temp before charging. It have the receiver placed about 15ft away unobstructed, and it has no problems getting signal from the thermometer in the chest.

I bought one of these to monitor my refrigerator. I put batteries in the sensor and display. I left them for a couple of hours until both temps stabilized and showed basically the same temp at 68°. Once they both read the ambient room temp, I then placed both in the refrigerator for a few more hours. Once I thought they had stabilized, I pulled the display out. To my amazement, the "fridge" temperature was still showing 68°, not the 40° it should have been showing. I pulled the sensor and display out and inserted all new batteries and let them stabilize for a couple more hours and both showed 68°, then back into the refrigerator. This time overnight. The next morning, I pulled the display out and fridge was still showing 68° and the ambient 40°, so I asked for a replacement. The replacement arrived 2 days later and I repeated the above test. To my dismay, the fridge was showing 72° and the other 40°. At best both should have same temps or within a fraction of a degree, but nope 72° versus 40°. Sadly, I am also returning the replacement as well. Just to make sure it wasn’t me; I did the same test with a UNNI thermometer that I have. It showed the same whether they were outside the fridge or inside the fridge. Now looking to buy another UNNI.

I put the sensor in my freezer and was surprised that the display unit received the signal from about 100ft(30m) away.The minimum/maximum temperature readings are a nice feature.

Put the sensor in the car fridge to make sure it was keeping the correct temperature for our cross country road trip. Made us realize that putting a blanket over the fridge really helped keep the cold in, and the refrigerator official temperature was the same as the reading on this thermometer.
