I purchased this saddle valve kit as well as a compression fit kit. I knew that the compression kit would be more solid and less likely to leak over the years but I wasn't so confident in my handyman skills. The saddle valve was easy to install with no signs of leaking. I'm not entirely confident in my plumbing skills but this kit worked as advertised right out of the box and that's good enough for me!

This is a complete kit for connecting your ice machine to an existing water line using a saddle valve. It uses compression fitting and comes with the sleeves for soft line. I will be using this as a water line connecting it to my pool return. I am tired of having to fill the pool with the garden hose as water evaporates. I am going to connect this to the return line and leave it on. It may take some time to get it adjusted correctly but I should have enough flow to compensate for evaporation. The saddle valve pierces the side of your copper pipe and allows y ou to connect the ¼” poly tube to it. You can open and close the valve if you get a leak without having to turn the water off at the main. Nice and easy way to connect to water line where you do not have one.
