Its double milled surface ensures that it responds perfectly to players input. The 12 ounce weight has been developed specifically for use with mallets weighing between 2 lb and 2 lb. 10 oz, such as our Grange, Sport and Extreme mallets. First, the plastic used to make these balls is very durable . Most other Croquet balls get nicked up pretty quickly from being struck by the mallets.Second, the weight of these are very consistent. On every other set I've tried (up to $400 sets) the weight of the balls is all over the place; as much as 25% difference between one ball and the other. These balls weigh within a few grams of one anotherFinally, the little Groove are cutting into these balls seem to roll much better on non-– manicured. We just play it the local park, and sometimes the grass is long, sometimes it's short, and I think what's so good about these balls is that the little grooves catch on the graph and start the ball spinning. Once it's spinning, it keeps direction much better than other balls.
