This is a really nice, heavy dog door knocker. If I like it so much, why give it 3-Starts:1) No hole drilling template. I had to make my own. How tough would it be to include a paper template, and the necessary drill bit size?2) The screw to hold the thingy the door knocker hits was the perfect length for our front door. HOWEVER, the screws to mount the knocker were .25" to .5" too long. Our door is well insulated and only 15 years old. A few different lengths of screws should have been provide. So, off to Ace Hardware to get a few extra screws a tad shorter. Nearest Ace Hardware: 30 minutes away. Time to search for the right drawer from the "gazzlions" of drawers they have (Ace is great for fasteners and stuff like this!) 15 minutes. Screws were $1 each. Then, 30 minutes home. Total time procuring the correct screws, about 90 minutes. I spent more time getting the right screws than actually mounting the knocker (mounting took 5 minutes excluding the home-made template and using the proper length screws).Consider including a few extra screws of various lengths. The knocker wasn't cheap, screws are, and I consider my time to get screws that could be avoid expensive.

I purchased this for a house warming gift for my daughter and son in law and they love it. It is solid and very well made with good detail work. They have only had it for apx two months but we expect it to hold up very well even with direct contact with the elements as there is no cover over the doorway. They are very happy with this item
