The Reolink Home Hub with two Argus 3 Ultra cameras offers good image quality and a user-friendly interface, but it falls short in a few critical areas.First, the battery life is disappointing. Initially, the cameras needed charging every 3-4 days, which was unacceptable. After a complete system reset and troubleshooting, I managed to extend this to 1-2 weeks. While better, it's still significantly less than competing brands and even Reolink's own Argus 3 Pro model.The Home Hub's reliance on SD cards for storage is another drawback. The Pro version addresses this issue by having a card slot.On the positive side, the setup process is straightforward, and the app is intuitive. The image quality is good, providing clear footage day and night.Overall, it's a mixed bag. If you don't mind frequent charging and SD card management, it might suit your needs. However, there are more reliable options available at this price point, even within Reolink's lineup

There is no reason something like these shouldn't have existed long ago. Sure there have been battery powered cameras and hubs but major props to Reolink for finally making them work together to allow RTSP connections for NVR/realtime monitoring when needed. The argument has always been it's not possible with battery powered cameras but that's ridiculous and we just needed someone to make the software to support it. Not only have then done this but they've put in the extra effort to get it playing nicely with Home Assistant and this gets major points from me. Now of course if you're watching them regularly that uses a lot of power so I recommend getting the compatible solar panels. Finally, all this is still possible, including using the hub, even after switching to another access point as long as it's on the same switched network. This is huge because it allows me to use my existing long range outdoor access points to place cameras anywhere on my property. All this can work cloud-free as well. Setup in the app is well designed and guides you through each step. My only annoyance is the loud instructions on a loop that play from the camera the whole time you're setting them up. If you're like me and want them connected to a separate network you first need to set them up with the hub then go into the cameras later and switch. Everything functionally works as expected. Motion sensing is great and of course at 4k you get great image quality. Even at night you have no trouble seeing what's going on. The hub is perfect for keeping everything together and saving all the events your cameras capture. The only thing I noticed that needs improvement is there are some UI items not showing in English. Event playback is still available on each camera but the hub allows you to see everything together if you have many cameras and want a global picture. You can even set up the hub to FTP events to another server for backup. Each camera is sleekly designed with waterproof plugs and a standard 1/4" thread. Included are a few options for mounting but for now I went with the strap until I nail down the ideal locations. It's kind of a pain because you can't get it tight but it does the job. I recommend screwing them in permanently. I have used both the Reolink solar panels and 3rd-party and something I've found is you need to give a solid push to get the plugs all the way in to make the connection.I don't know which is my favorite feature between the Home Assistant integration, separate network ability for longer distance, long-lasting batteries, or likely the ability to do this all cloud-free but these nice cameras paired with the new home hub is a full win for me.
