Maple biscuits are stained brown and highlight the tight maple grain. The hardrock maple biscuit gives the classic vintage dobro and national tone, projection, and sustain. Why does the biscuit matter? Although Luthiers and manufacturers may upgrade their resonator cones and other parts, they often install a soft piece of wood on the bridge and/or sadde- usually made from available scrap. That inferior wood negatively affects the reso’s tone and projection. Each Replogle biscuit is carefully beveled to tune the bridge for the highest performance. Beveling the biscuit decreases the mass that can deaden the cone along the bridge contact area, and gives extra response that allows the vibrations to better transfer to the cone.
