My mower is a Troy Bilt powered mower, which from new gave me fuel issue and coughing and spluttering issues. Cleaning out the fuel bowl and jet on the carb cleared it, but for only so long. The real culprit is a poorly designed fuel cap on the mower which is a twist fit and I'm not convinced it does a good job of sealing the fuel tank from dust and debris, which is more common in the sandy and often dry climate of Florida. My fix was to install an inline fuel filter, which I tend to change out annually or bi-annually. All that was needed was to cut the fuel line between the tank and the carb and splice in the filter. Easy job, doesn't take long and no more coughing and spluttering. A cheap fix for a persistent problem.

These work fine. They're 150 micron. Worth the money.

This work as designed I guess. However, I would not call them a fuel filter. They simply have a screen in them, which would remove things like small rocks. Dirt and other fuel contaminants will sail right through I suspect.

I purchased my lawn mower almost 5 years ago but never changed the air filter or fuel line filter. We live in Northern Idaho so at the end of every season, I drain the gas out of my mower.. The mower was running rough at the end of last season so I put in a new spark plug. This season I put in a new air filter but it was still running rough. I put fresh clean gas in for my 1st time cutting the grass. The mower went through an entire tank of gas the 1st time I mowed the yard. So I ask Ms Google WHY? She told me my gas line filter was bad.. I took my old filter out to measure the size I needed but did not pay attention to which end came out of where.. So when I got the new gas line filter I was confused about which way to install it. Again back to Ms. Google and found out it does not matter on a new gas line filter only on a used filter.

They served the purpose they were supposed to. Previous filters wouldn't allow enough flow to keep the engine from stalling. These allow enough flow while still filtering the gasoline. Anything above this filtration rate of 150 micron isn't recommended by the manufacturers for gravity feed gasoline generators.
