I'm not sure how many people just need the cover! Generally if the latch breaks you need the mechanism. But there is no mention how to buy. It only states this is the cover only. I had to contact the manufacturer. You can buy from them but I don't think the shipping is free.

Great replacement for a Pella window that plastic handle broke for. I looked dall over for a replacement and Pella charges a ridiculous amount for one. I found this and followed instructions from another review just use a flathead screwdriver to pop off old one and then line up this one and press it on while window is in closed position. This part is actually better quality than the original.

Why did I wait! The first photo cover old and new. My windows were Pella. The second pic is cover popped showing insides.1) It's easiest if your window is fully closed and locked.2) Butter knife or slotted screwdriver and pry up plastic cover. It will pop off.3) When cover off you will see inside mechanism. Just leve it, I wiped mine clean.4) There are a post on each end cover slides into and latch hole for center pin. A rubber mallet,, your fist, pound down the cover. It will snap in place.5) Viola you are finished, 5 minutes.

Perf. I have capella windows latches and the latch broke off on few I have. So I bought these to replace them and my husband installed them and he said they pop right in
