Our vacuum started making a horrible squeal. It turned out that one of the bearings on the brush had seized and wore down the teeth on the belt. I ordered this and a replacement belt to repair it, and now the vacuum is running like new.

Part to replace old brush in Shark vacuum

This brush will fit the NV551 Sharp Vacuum even though it is not listed in the description. It's a good quality brush. The design of the NV551 Vacuum makes it difficult to replace the original brush. Some care and understanding of the vacuum assembly is needed.

Decided to replace parts rather than the whole vacuum. Good decision as the parts fit perfectly and were easy to install. AFTER watching a Utube video. Lots of hidden screws that at first made installation a challenge, but was easy after a bit of watching. Works like new. I definitely would suggest this replacement part

I purchased my Shark Rotary Professional Carpet Sweeper 17 years ago. I purchased a rotary brush and (motor to brush belt) from Amazon. I watch an online Utube twice with the sweeper nearby. I cleared the kitchen island and with an old blanket used it for a work table. I grabbed a couple throw pillows for shoring up the sweeper and began to dismantle and installed the new parts. It took me, 1-1/2 hours. Most of the time was spent doing a detailed clean-up of all the underside and installing all new filters. Installed all the screws and took the sweeper for a test run. Runs like a new one. Be sure to watch the Utube, it will show you hidden screws and to be alert for electric wires in pitch point places when you begin to assemble parts. Robt

The original beater bar on my Shark NV586 was worn down to almost nothing after only four years despite the rest of the vacuum being fully functional. This replacement fit perfectly. I hope it lasts longer than the original did, but time will tell.As a side note: In replacing the original beater bar, Shark not only doesn't sell replacement beater bars, but has made it difficult for the average consumer to open up the base. It's held together by T20 Torx screws while the inside parts are secured by REGULAR PHILIPS HEAD SCREWS. It makes me mad that companies go out of their way to make their products unrepairable. It encourages landfill waste and makes you buy more of their expensive product. But screw you, Shark. I'm armed with a T20 screwdriver, a replacement part, and sheer determination. Viva la vacuum!

I bought this for our Shark NV581QR vacuum. It is a direct replacement for the Shark 500 series units. Shark WILL NOT sell you this part. They want you to buy their $100+ entire replacement head. To try to make sure you buy their parts only, Shark used security screw to hold the unit closed. YOU WILL NEED TO BUY A T-20 SECURITY TIP SCREWDRIVER TO REPLACE THE BEATER BAR ON YOUR OWN. I found a set of eleven sizes on Amazon for around $10. So bank on adding that cost into your purchase. Still WAY cheaper than the whole replacement head. Once it is installed the new beater bar will give your Shark all new life. Works like new again!Installation is pretty basic once you have the T20 bit. To remove the old one you will need to gently pry out the square plastic pieces on each end of beater bar shaft. Slide the shaft out towards the belt side. Lift out the old part. You will need to put the new one in the belt and drop it into place first. Then slide the shaft through beater bar. Push the new plastic squares onto the ends and you're done. Reassemble the vacuum.

This item did not arrive with instructions. I had to look up on YouTube on how to replace the brush roll and I could not get to the last screw. It took me over an hour to get to the screws I could get to . After trying to remove the screws, there was one I could not get to. And to the person who wrote the review on my purchase. I know very well how to use power tools and hand tools. Next time you think you need to send a disparaging remark. Don't! I am very well aware on how to removed and replace an item I purchase and use tools a. Your nasty remark is not necessary. Instead of criticizing you should make suggestions. Stop and think before you write something on a review, it is uncalled for . Make suggestions instead , it is better than being critical you could improve on your manners on how to write a review. I have enough common sense to know not to write a review and criticize a person.
