This is a beautiful globe with lots of nice features, like the raised topography and the gyro mounting that allows 360 degrees turning and the ocean currents. The problem is that the product information states right up top that the material is metal, but the only thing metal is the gyro mounting mechanism and the round base. The actual globe is simply cardboard! Also, the price went up to $140 by the time I was ready to order it as an anniversary gift, and then dropped back down to $109 right after, so I feel like I was scammed!

I got this a s gift for my 12 year old grandson. He assembled it...so far so good. Hope it holds up.
