Hypothermia Wrap Blanket
Unlike mylar space blankets that can easily tear, the Rescue Essentials Hypothermia Wrap is made from a combination of mylar and strong, lightweight polyethylene fabric laminated together. It provides improved body heat reflection and durability compared to traditional mylar. High visibility orange on one side and metallized silver on the other, the Rescue Essentials Hypothermia Wrap is THE lightweight, compact solution for keeping patients warm - the last critical phase of the M.A.R.C.H. treatment algorithm. Silver side can be reversed to deflect solar gain when the need to cool a patient arises. Weighing in at only 3.5 ounces, this is an essential piece of gear for all responders.

I bought this to put in my go-bag as a good-to-have.The reason for choosing this one over others is because it is made of polyethylene vs the thin mylar that most are made of as these tend to tear more easily.

Under heavy use the silver coating wears off making the reflectability of body heat less efficient.

All right - I actually tried the thing out and it seems to work as well as any other emergency Mylar blanket. The one difference and the one that would cause me to choose this over other blankets? It is big compared to its competitors (60”x96”) vs the standard (50”x80”). The one drawback is that I feel like these blankets - in general - leak a ton of air so your best bet is to wrap someone in it. Even at 60” wide, you’ll be hard pressed to get a human fully burritoed in this thing. That being said, it’s still bigger than most of its competitors. Mine has fingerprints in the orange side - like someone was grabbing it too quickly while it was curing - but I don’t think that’s an issue. Would buy if I needed a few more of them.

Being in SoCal, a lot of people forget to keep Hypothermia blankets. But you will wish for one if your car gets stuck in the Angeles forest during the winter months or you find yourself dealing with a natural disaster during a colder period.This Rescue Essentials Hypothermia Wrap Blanket works great. Keeps you toasty warm. Does it job. Folded up, the Rescue Essentials Hypothermia Wrap Blanket is very small. Easy to pack in the backpack without taking up too much space.Great Hypothermia Wrap Blanket.

I haven't opened this. I hope I never do. At 5 inches x 3 inches in its package, it's just a tiny thing to give me peace of mind.We've never had any trouble, but we've been to plenty of parks with limited services. Having this hypothermia blanket (which will fit in the glove box - but will still be in our emergency cache) is just another piece of insurance.I hope I find it it, five years from now when I sell this car, and move it to the next one, unopened, so we can continue to go to wide open spaces, knowing that if something should happen, we'll be safe and warm. This is the kind of insurance we all need.

This is one of those things that you get and hope you never have to use it. It comes folded up tightly in a nice little baggy that you can stick in pretty much any emergency kit. Living in southern Florida, it's even less likely that I'd have to deploy this but there's still a chance - so I keep it handy. Better to have and not need than need and not have.

I ordered this to add to my emergency bug-in bag should anything cause things to hit the proverbial fan. I hope I never ever have to use this blanket but will be ever so glad to have it if ever needed. The great thing about this is it takes up about as much space as a deck of cards! It is crazy how small this really is so I took a photo next to a lighter for perspective. Great little space saver but big in protection.
