I bought the speaker mike for my Ailunce HA1G but I couldn't get it to connect right. I returned it and bought this adapter and it works great. Now I can use a regular two pin speaker mike.

Works.... Screw it on, plug in a mic and it worked as advertised. Lets me use the Kenwood accessories I already had for other radios on my Retevis Ailunce HD2 DMR radio.

This is a perfect design that allows for the radio to be secured in a pouch without disrupting functionality of an external microphone/speaker.

When attached the radio still passes audio. Once handheld mic is plugged in to the ports the audio ceases from the radio and comes through the hand mic.It would also be nice to have a version (or switch) where audio can come through the mic cable and the radio speaker simultaneously, especially when using an APRS cable so one could decode digital signals while still being able to hear voice communications.

I normally don't write reviews, but given that I was on the fence about buying because of some of the reviews, I thought I'd leave some comments that might be helpful to others.First, I can understand how some people ended up snapping off the connector screw while working with this. The adapter works fine on my RT82. I haven't had any issues with it yet as far as audio, though I just received it today. That being said, it is EXTREMELY tight to fit on. I'm assuming that maybe it's because it's made to fit many of their radios, so the fitment might be different on some of them, I don't know I'm just guessing. When you put this thing on though, at least on my RT82, you have to press it down very hard in order to get the screw lined up to begin tightening it down. The plastic tab at the top of the connector has a very extreme angle on it in comparison to other attachments for this radio. Due to the extreme angle, that plastic tab acts as a very rigid spring. While other accessories just slide nicely into place, and are then easily tightened down with the screw, this one has to be pressed VERY hard and held in place carefully while you line up the screw, and then of course ultimately tighten it down. This is hard to do because it almost requires 3 hands, but not so difficult that it's impossible. You just have to be very careful and patient, and hold it very steady while you apply pressure to get it in place with one hand, until you can start screwing it down with the other. All in all, it's not that bad, but yeah I can see how some people end up breaking it fairly easily. Just be careful, hold it very firm and steady, and it's fine. Aside from that issue, it does what it says and I can connect to my laptop via 3.5mm for APRS and I'm sure it'll work fine for other applications, headsets, etc.The only other thing I will mention is that although the description indicates that they did some sort of fix to allow audio to come through the speaker while this attachment is on but not in use, that was not the case with mine. I don't know if that depends on the radio you're using, or possibly firmware version? Again, I'm using this on an RT82 which it is listed as compatible with, but maybe whatever "fix" they did for that only works on the HD1, I have no idea. Either that or maybe I got one of the old ones they still had laying around. Who knows? Not a big deal for me really, because I won't be keeping this on regularly and really only want it for the APRS soundmodem connection. If I end up using it at all outside of that, it's almost certain that it would be to connect a headset, in which case I would just take the whole attachment off if I want speaker audio.

The pin configuration on this adapter is incorrect for microphone function with Kenwood 2-pin connector devices. It will only provide functionality for the speaker/earpiece of the device for listening. If you know what you are doing, you can modify it to provide microphone functionality (move the far left pin on the top row to the far right pin hole on the top row), but this shouldn't be necessary for an item that claims to have this functionality.
