It replaces traditional pull ropes with a more efficient system, allowing hunters to effortlessly raise and lower their bows and gear to and from the tree stand. With its user-friendly design, the hoist typically attaches to the bow and the hunter's harness, automatically unwinding as they ascend the tree. Just isn’t retractable which makes reeling in all the line a paint but I’ll work

I don't know why, but I was under the impression that this was an auto retracting Bow Hoist. It's not... You have to manually reel up the excess line.I would like to point out to the few people who left negative comments because it was hard to reel up the bow. It's not a fishing reel! You pull the bow up by hand, then reel up the slack line.Overall, this is not a bad device. The price was definitely good, and I like the thicker line. Much easier to hoist up your weapon.

Granted this is a low cost spool so expectations should not be extremely high. For lighter items it has been okay. It's compact enough, convenient enough with the clip, and sturdy enough. The little crank nubs don't allow for much leverage though. So for heavier items it's harder to get the torque you need to easily wind things. It might increase the cost but a flip out handle would be a good thing to help in that area. Also, the spool is free-wheeling so you can end up with backlash if you pull too quickly. I don't think it should be spring loaded or 'automatic', I just think that there should be a bit of drag on the spool to keep the line in order as it's paying out.I think that's the difference for me between three stars and five at this point. Better crank handle design and a bit of smoothing resistance on the spool. Best luck.~Cheers!

I bought this to replace another gear hoist that had a ribbon style rope. This rope is round and is much easier and comfortable to use. Uses a carabiner to clip to tree stand harness so you don't have to mess with it when climbing. Overall a good piece of kit for tree stand hunting.
