I've used this quite frequently. The only thing that would make it better would be a hex head rather than a hand screw. I replaced my hand screw with a hex head bolt and it is much more efficient. I've gotten at least 100 pours out of this product and still going strong.

I got the mold and immediately noticed that the sheet side was fill with lines and bumps, not the wire side just the sheet side. This is being considered the reason that the metal won't pour, just sits on the top. To be Honest, the wire side works great, no issues with that one, so this makes me feel this is a issue of just pour construction. I can't return it so now I am out the money. The advice you should take from this is that looking at other reviews you can see they have a really poor quality control and are sending out products with obvious flaws but don't seem to care. You may get a good one, you may get a bad one, you take the risk.

I'm a complete novice. Still practicing getting the mold hot enough for the metal to not cool as it's entering but even I have gotten workable results. Great tool would buy again. Could be better would be to maybe a second screw for tightening down on the graphite more evenly.

I have not done many ingot pours, but I can definitely say I am very happy with this mold kit. I love that it can do both cylinders as well as flat ingots. The handle is a really nice plus, as well. One thing that isn’t mentioned in the description is that one half of the mold is screwed to the base. One thing I wasn’t crazy about was the poor machining on the mating surfaces of the mold. You can see how rough they were initially in the first photo. I don’t know if it would have affected the ingot or not, but I was suspecting a large amount of flashing if left that way. A few minutes on the belt sander, and then wet sanding at 120 - 400 grit yielded the surface as shown in the second photo. Not mirror-perfect by any means, but more likely to make a tight seal in my estimation. It also left a crisp edge on the cylinders, something I hoped would further reduce the possibility of flashing. This step probably isn’t necessary, but may be worth trying if you have a lot of metal seep out of your mold. Was really happy with my results after smoothing. The third photo shows an ingot made from approximately 13 grams of 19k yellow gold in the second smallest cylinder. The seams are very clean. I lubricated the mold lightly with coconut oil and there was no sticking.I expected the trickled flash at the top, but was surprised by the smaller clump alone at the bottom. I suspect I either hesitated early in the pour, or else I needed to heat the mold more.Anyway, I feel I made a very respectable ingot in this mold on the first try. I love the design, and am pleased with the construction (other than the rough machining that probably doesn’t matter anyway).Highly recommended!!
