Your cart is empty.The function of the Escargot decanter is based on the special aeration effect. A first intensive oxygen transfer takes place when the wine is decanted from the bottle into the Escargot decanter. To fill the Escargot, move the decanter from a horizontal position to standing upright. The wine is aerated for a second time when it is poured from the Escargot decanter into a glass. The special shape of this decanter therefore adds more fresh air to the wine that has already been decanted. The second aeration process is visible by means of a bubbling when the wine flows through the neck of the Escargot decanter. Always hold the decanter using the oval indentation in its rounded part

As my wine enthusiasm has grown I have come to realize how important decanting wine truly is! Sure, there are lots of ways to actually decant a wine but this piece is special. This shape is fun conversation piece and it also is functional. Rather then those wide bottom style which are very hard to pour from this makes it easy. And as the wine comes out it bubbles oxygen through the neck adding more to the liquid. It’s easy to clean. In the end, I choose quality and longevity in things I buy, this company hits those marks. It’s fun to watch all the videos Riedel has made to further your education.

It is beautiful and fun decanter. It does not feel too delicate to not be used often. I am a big fan of Riedel decanters and its Sommelier series of wine glasses. While decanting the wine bottle, be sure to tilt this decanter slightly at the bank end, else you might get the impression that it does not hold 750 ml of wine. I have used it several times and it has been a fun topic of conversation.

My wife and I were married in Sonoma, CA (wine country) and had an intimate wedding. We focused the wedding around the regional wine and it was truly a beautiful event for all who attended. We purchased a variety of decanters which we had engraved for each of our wedding party guests. This decanter is stunning in person and if you are able to find a glass engraver, it can make a beautiful gift for any occasion for your loved ones.
