Review # 2 -I reviewed this switch as problematic when I bought the sander some months back. The switch no longer works and it has been so frustrating to use that I’m not even seeking a replacement. I’ll sand with my drill even though it’s heavier.Review # 1 - Lightweight, variable speed, nice battery life - what’s not to like? The On/Off switch. It’s terrible.I use the sander as a woodturner, changing grits 4 or 5 times as I work from coarsest to finest. Each time I have to stand there with my thumb on the switch waiting for first the battery light, then the start light to come on - then I have to re-set the speed. Every time. Then when I turn it off to change sanding grit I have to stand and wait again for the sander to finally get the message and stop. Then go through the whole restart again. If I ever find a sander like this one with a simple On/Off switch like in my other tools have, I’ll buy it.

This is a great little sander for doing finish sanding and small areas. It is surprisingly powerful for its size and has great battery life. I was worried about having a different battery system for just one tool but I rarely have to charge the thing. My only complaint about this tool is the way it turns on and changes speed. You have to hold down the power button which is tiny and slightly recessed for a few seconds and then you have to hit the speed increase button to get the unit to the speed that you want. After that it's no fuss whatsoever. Turn it off simply press the power button. My thumbs aren't huge, but they are obviously bigger than whoever designed this machine. With the two inch flex sandpaper with the star shape it does a great job of getting into the small curved areas at the bottom of the bowls I make. And all I am happy with the tool, but the controls prevent it from getting the fifth star. I would have bought a corded version had it been available, but this little guy does just fine for the money

The tool is good for small jobs, like side view mirrors, headlights, spot polishing, etc. In order to power the tool on and off, you have to HOLD the power button for a few seconds which can be a little tedious. The attachments are a little limited (3). Battery life seems OK for small jobs. Is it worth 100? yeah, but not any more!

So far I love this tool. I use it with carbide grinding heads that came with a king Arthur merlin angle grinder I bought the merlin tool and it's junk. I've burnt up three so far. I'm trying this rikon to see how it holds up. So far it's running great. I purchased two extra batteries so I always have a chared battery. Time will tell how long it lasts, so far its lasted longer than my last merlin that cost 275 dollars. It has a 3/8 inch threaded shaft. I took it to a nut bolt shop and purchased some nuts so I can use my arbortech mini turbo grinder. Fits perfectly. Time will tell.
