Throws my streamers! Best for lakes and deep pools in creeks. Not recommended for shallow streams.

I don’t have lots of experience using sink tips.I use it for lake fishing for trout. I suppose you could use it on rivers, (and I have and caught fish) but I suspect in most cases you might want a faster-sinking version for deep moving water.Oddly, it sometimes floats, but found a tug or strip gets it sinking. Maybe there are residual oils on it — perhaps washing it with some warm water and dish soap would solve this minor issue. It is tapered. It casts ok enough, but don’t make your tippet too long though as that will make casting harder.Hope this helps!

Haven’t used it yet but I really like how soft this leader is. It does not want to stay coiled up and states straight nicely. I got the 3.9 ips sinking leader and it should be great for rivers and some small mouth fishing.Update: In preparation to use the leader I tied on a 10lb Seaguar fluoro tippet using a tipped ring. After looking at the end of the leader I noticed that it looked thinner than my 10lb. So I did a pull test and the leader broke first multiple times. In other words, the leader I got said it was 12 pounds but it definitely is not. More like 8lbs which is unfortunate. Lowering my rating to 3 stars.

I have 3 different sink rates for steelhead fishing with a switch rod. Practiced with all 3 yesterday and all work, for me ,anyway, in different depths and speeds of water current. Some will argue, they can save money and make their own. That's fine...I choose not to.

Instead of carrying a spare spool with dedicated sink line I just attach this leader to my floating line and cast away. I'm using it on a 9' 5wt Redington Classic Trout rod w/ Rio Gold WF line. I've used it in still water lakes and fast moving streams. I use the 7ft length, fastest sinking rate (black loop) to get my streamer down quicker, especially handy in fast moving water. I tied a tippet ring to the end and attach 18-24 inches of tippet to that and then my streamer. Works like a charm and is holding up nicely through multiple uses. Will buy more!
