About this item

  • PREMIER BONEFISH QUICKSHOOTER: It is an ideal line for low light conditions and for the angler wading flats when fish are hard to spot and close range casts are required. It is also a fantastic line choice for the novice bonefish angler.
  • FEATURES: Mid length front taper that turns over typical bonefish flies with great presentation. High floating running line that will not sink and impede the cast. Built with RIO's exceptionally slick, durable SlickCast coating.
  • TECHNOLOGIES: RIO’s DirectCore is a low-stretch core used in tropical lines, that stretches 30% less than other tropical cores, exceptionally easy to pull coils out of, and lies perfectly straight on the water, while SlickCast creates the slickest, most durable coating on the market, producing the least amount of friction ever measured on a fly line.
  • SALTWATER FLY LINES: We offer a wide selection of saltwater fly lines for anglers of all abilities in all conditions. Whether fishing flats for Bonefish, Permit or Tarpon in the tropics or heaving big baitfish patterns into the surf for Stripers, we have the right line. A wide selection of both tropical and cold water fly lines ensure that we have every fishing condition and season covered. All fly lines are built with sophisticated tapers and the latest technology for the modern angler.
  • PASSION & INNOVATION: For more than 20 years, RIO has demonstrated passion, innovation and a pure love for the sport through its development of the industry's highest performance fly lines. And the great news is, we will continue to research, design and refine our products to ensure they are your preferred line of choice for years to come.

The RIO PRODUCTS Premier Bonefish Fly Line has a long head and rear taper to smooth out the loop, and to make long efficient casts, while the mid length front taper produces great turnover and easy presentation of typical bonefish flies. This is a great line for the more experienced flats angler, and ideal for fast 2nd shot casts to cruising fish.

I used this flyline that has an "expressed and specific purpose" to be forward loaded (short heavy head to load the rod quickly) for FAST and accurate casting while wade fishing. It is not intended as an all-around line or that which I would use when casting from a boat. There I'd be up higher off thw water and could cast both a longer line and have a softer presentation. I'd also might have more time to cast or to make more false cats, as maybe the Guide would be seeing fish further away.I used this 'QuickShooter' line as it pre-loads the rod and makes water pickups quick and easy and from there, I could then shoot out fast and accurate casts to 50', or so, which honestly was at the limit of my ability to spot bonefish whilst wading the sand flats. I caught many Bonefish and other species (although the barracuda broke me off, as I didn't have a wire leader at that strike), but at no time did the weight-forward floating line 'spook' a fish. Where my fly landed might have, but not the line weight, where i used 10 to 12' leaders. One other cool feature is the 2-tone coloration between the light blue shooting head and then the tan running line. This made it simple for the Caster to determine "how best" for them to wade with X amount of line outside the rod tip; as that amount not only differs for each of us, as dependent on our own ability casting, but as well as by the prevalent conditions, like current or wind.Another impressive feature is that the line stayed limp and supple even in the 90-degree F heat. It never got sticky and I only had one time where I got a tad of a tangle, but that was all my fault. Line management whilst wading is key and frankly. that error there was entirely on me. The line's overall performance was absolutely SUPERB!

Smooth, easy casting line. I personally live in hawaii and our waters are around 75f yearly. Definitely designed for warm waters.
