Each line has a short, quick-loading head for minimizing the number of false casts, and for quick, easy distance, and a color contrast between the head and the running line to easily show the line’s loading point. In addition, each line is built with a Hang Marker that shows anglers when to stop stripping, and when to fish the “hang”, and features RIO’s “Density Compensation” (except Type 7) for complete fly control.

This line seems to do the job. I put several wraps, probably around 3/8"deep, around my reel's spool before I apply the monofilament line. I use 30 lb mono for ocean fishing. This puts a lot of pressure on the spool, and this woven backing line seems to have the "sponginess" to take up the pressure by the mono from reeling in large fish over long distances and prevents damage to the reel's spool. It stays clean and mildew free over several fishing trips.

I mainly fish small, freshwater streams, so backing really isn't that important to me. That said, this stuff is thin, light, and strong.

I live in a lake that goes from 5-26’. Nothing but nymphs work. The fish move a lot to different depths all year. A guy told me about this line and how you can fish easily different depths. My catch tripled! Incredible idea.

Used it last month in fairly fast water. If cast way out (40+ feet), will sink clear to bottom. Even brought up a moss covered rock. Shortened casts to about 30 feet then started catching fish.

I purchased this line to setup a new reel I recently ordered. The line is thinner then I was expecting but also seemed very strong. I personally do more creek and stream fishing so I have yet to catch anything that would run me into my backing. That said, I do have confidence this backing should hold up. I also like how bright and uniform the color was.Overall I’m very pleased with my order.

It is a little short backing for #5 reel. Before wind this line on #5 reel, wind a little remnant line.
