About this item

  • Ritz Gear Shotgun Microphone – Unidirectional condenser microphone designed for recording exceptional broadcast-quality audio with your DSLR camera or Camcorder.
  • Mini-pin Plug (3.5mm)The Universal 3.5mm mini-pin jack and Hot/Cold shoe mount make this the ideal grab-and-go microphone for your production needs. The shock-mount and coiled cable help to insure that sound from vibrations and cable movement are greatly reduced.
  • The Super-Cardioid polar pattern greatly isolates the recorded sound, allowing you to hear the subject clearly regardless of outside or surrounding noise. A 75dB Signal-to-noise ratio greatly reduces the potential for unwanted noise in your recordings.
  • A 38 to 20,000 Hz frequency response insures that the full audio spectrum can be heard in your recordings; from sub-bass to harmonic brilliance, you will be able to capture it all.
  • Lightweight ABS construction is perfect for handheld and gimbal use, allowing the camera operator to move freely and comfortably without the added weight of other alloy designs.

Although this might did work, kind of, I had to return it. First off build quality was very subpar and very cheap. Even for a budget mic. Secondly, with with the help of audio controls and a mixer, the audio from this mic was just absolutely ghastly. The windscreen basically did nothing to help with eliminating some noise and popping. The "Shock Absorbers" were just awful. They were so spring and loose, the slightest movement would cause the mic to shake pretty vigourusly and would get picked in the recordin, meaning one could only ever use it as long as it was absolutely still. I.E., a tripod and hopefully you have a Bluetooth remote. It is cheap. Not of good budget quality but it did work. But, I can only give it 2 stars. Better budget mics are out there.

Good microphone, my only hang up is I wish the microphone was more stable, that piece in the middle that keeps the microphone in place moves a lot. I was trying to set my menu options or even pause and etc and that mic would wobble and you hear it when you play it back. Other then that, it’s pretty good, sounds is crisp and clear and it picks up from a good distance as well!!!

It is not too bad. It doesn’t do much when it comes to sound quality but does improve it by a little and sometimes worsening for me. I don’t know if I would recommend it. But the price is really good.

I'm been using this mic for a week every day and it is comparable with other products that cost more than $100 dollars. I'm very happy with the results.

I ordered this mic because it was supposed to fit my Canon Rebel T7 and was inexpensive. Problem is, the Rebel T7 is not compatible with any external microphone but I only learned this after seeing the plug would clearly not fit.I decided that I would go ahead and keep the mic to use as a back up for my vlogging camera. I put in a battery and flipped the switch and got a green light...good so far. Plugged it into my camera and fired everything up for the first test...and here's where it went south. I got no audio so I went through all the normal troubleshooting options to no avail.Anyhow, it doesn't work so I'm sending it back and would just say, it was only 10 bucks, but 10 bucks is 10 bucks so be aware you may have the same result.

The battery choice sold me..One AAA battery to power this microphone. Mounts easily, connects to my DVC .For indoor use with a great price, this pickup microphone fits the bill...

This shotgun microphone does a really good job at isolating the recorded sound and I'm happy with the price, so I think that I'll keep using it!

I have a Canon 7D Mark II that I use for photos that I sell. Sometimes I encounter situations where I like to grab a video shot and don't want to break out my video unit. The sound from the built in mike on the 7D is acceptable but not the greatest. I looked for a cheaper alternative to my Adzen mike, which is fantastic, but at over $200, it wasn't in the budget this time. I saw the low price on this unit by Ritz Camera and looked the specs and they seemed to be pretty good and the price was such that if I didn't like it, I could put it in a drawer for emergency use.I should point out that I am NOT an audio guy. I have been guided so far by a friend who has won two Emmy's for his video work, an so any lack of understanding is completely on me.In my limited test so far, the microphone has proven to be excellent. The sound is clear and crisp and the mike is pretty directional. This weekend I'm going to video a jet ski race with both cameras and I should be able to get a side by side, (literally) check on the sound quality. But I can tell you that from early and limited testing, this mike is really great. Especially for the price. Highly recommended.
