Useful practice of internal cable routing

To make it easier, take a nylon hose with 2 or 3mm diameter. Insert it through the slotted hole closest to the center and find the end at the other hole. Grab it with a pair of pointed pliers and pull it through. Then thread through the cable and slide the nylon hose, repeat this for other brake or shift cables so that you have passed through a pair of cables.

Using the cable as a guide, slide the outer brake sleeve first, again out of the center hole. This is the tricky part because the hole is close to the bend so that the sleeve does not run naturally into the exit hole. They had to tighten the cable so that the end of the sleeve was on the inside of the hole, and with a small screwdriver lever up under the cable so that the sleeve was aligned with the whole and then pulled through. Repeat this for the smaller outer sleeve of the gear lever.
