You get what you pay for.It will last through head high waves, even though it doesn't feel sturdy.Not a lot of variable in this. Just like the leash you would put on if you're going to sell the board. I keep it in my vehicle as a spare.

I usually don't write reviews, but felt I needed to because those that surf enough know what a pain it is when your leash breaks or malfunctions. I received my leash on February 12th and within 3 months of use(4 times a week), BOTH parts of the velcro strap are worn and does not hold as securely as it should. The first 3rd of the "stringy" part of the velcro is frayed and does not hold. The "hooks" part of the velcro is compromised and holds at about 60% of what it should. I went out on a 6 foot face day and when I fell off the wave, the white water pulled the leash off my ankle. When I came in, I inspected my leash and noticed the issues. From the attached pic, hopefully you can see how frayed my leash is. I just found out that the warranty was 2 months so I'm SOL! I emailed the manufacturer and here was their reply: "If you need a better foot rope, we suggest to choose another product.". So they did NOTHING!

Tried the straps out of the box and was very happy with the secure fit around my ankle. I feel that the inner foil works best to create more speed and flow in softer waves. For the first workout, I didn't fasten the Velcro tightly enough, so the handle rotated to the inside of my ankle. This stem is fairly long compared to other leash I've used before and gets in the way when trying to pop it, which can be avoided if you make sure it wraps around the ankle tightly enough.
