I've been playing roller derby for more than twelve years. My league recently resumed practice after two years dark, thanks to covid, and it's been nearly three years since I skated with my team, thanks to a fractured leg. After a few practices, one of our trainers recommended I try skating on a harder wheel to reduce the friction and grip that were straining my leg, creating pain and instability. I've been on 93a wheels for many years, and I don't think I've ever skated on anything harder than that. I'm not very big, but I'm also slow and tend to rely on being low and stable. I don't need or particularly like to slide.The first few laps in these were comical. Bambi on ice. The floor is painted wood but not the grippiest floor I've ever been on. After going through some easy strides and crossovers I tried various stops and moves. I love these wheels! About one hour into practice I wasn't even thinking about my skates, it felt more like what I experienced before breaking my leg. The aluminum hub feels very firm. Since I don't bounce around on my feet, jump, or step laterally a lot I don't like nylon hubs that flex. I think it's more like I prefer the control maybe. These have a far less grippy feel than previous wheels but don't feel like they're going to slide out from under me. I would love for these to be available in fun colors, because my kids have loved adding little touches to my gear that they can see from the sides when they come watch me skate. My son choose yellow wheels for me and I hated to not sick with that, but it's not a deal breaker at all. These feel really good on my feet, and I'm very pleased with the quality. I've already recommended them to some newer skaters I've been training, and will likely continue to.

I got these in 97a when they first came out, they quickly became my favorite indoor wheels! Great, predictable grip, a bit of slide when you want it and they roll for days. 5 stars!
