I use this on a heavy canvas golf shoe bag. !/4" rope slides right thru the 3/8" hole. Shackle is well made and easy to use.

The part I was sent wasn't brass. it was red and, I suspect, made of bronze. Ronstan's said they only made it in brass. When I pointed out their website called it bronze, I was thanked for pointing out the error and they would correct the error on the Web page.But they were wrong. I found the brass version at West Marine.

I ordered this item from another seller as they were not available at Amazon.Upon receipt and examination of the snap shackle I found it to be of very poor manufacture, rough edges, unfinished and with flashings still attached. To add insult to injury it is made of yellow brass and not of bronze.
