I had high hopes this rotating paint rack would finally solve my spray-painting woes in the shop. You know the struggle - finding a spot to spray your projects that allows 360° access without turning your shop floor into a Jackson Pollock piece. On paper, this rack looked promising: adjustable height, stainless steel build, and a wide rotating surface. Well, friend, reality had other plans.First off, whoever designed this thing forgot a fundamental engineering concept: the center of gravity needs to be low. Instead, what we have here is something as top-heavy as a toddler learning to ice skate. The base has just a 12-inch radius where the tiny wheels (more on those gems later) touch the ground, while the top plate is a solid 24"x24" square with a diagonal spanning 33 inches. The math ain’t mathin’. You put anything heavier than your lunchbox on this thing, and it’s doing its best Leaning Tower of Pisa impersonation. And speaking of wheels - wow. I'm not sure I've ever seen a more pathetic set of casters outside a dollar-store furniture aisle. Flimsy, fragile, and about as likely to roll smoothly as square wheels. To be fair, they might work okay if your project's a single cabinet door, or maybe something tiny and light, but that's about it.Then there’s the telescopic column held in place by two bolts. Why two, you ask? Well, because one simply wouldn't cut it to hold anything heavier than air. Even with two bolts cinched tight, add even a modest load, and this thing might telescope downward on its own like a bad magic trick. The galvanized steel perforated sheet is paper-thin (20 gauge) with edges sharp enough to shave with - handling it feels like a risk I didn't sign up for.Still, I’m holding onto a shred of hope here. With some serious modifications - maybe slapping the entire rig onto a repurposed, heavy-duty office chair base (I can hear Craigslist calling already) - it might just live up to its potential. But straight out of the box? Nope.Bottom line: If you're planning on painting small hobby items, knock yourself out -just wear gloves. But for serious shop use, you better come prepared to give it an engineering makeover.Pros:✅ The center column is at least hefty (comparatively)✅ Adjusts in height (sort of)Cons:❌ Disappointing top-heavy design❌ Misleading product drawings❌ Wheels sourced from a cereal-box prize❌ Paper-thin, sharp-edged steel surfaces❌ Telescoping mechanism might be prone to unwanted “adjustments”🏅 Verdict:🛠️ Shop Project Waiting to Happen⭐️⭐️☆☆☆ (2 Stars out of 5)
