For years I lived with this gage in my humidor thinking it just did not work. I placed other gages in the humidor but that was very inconvenient. Then one day I stumbled on the solution by accident on the internet. So, to calibrate :A) Take out the battery and leave it out for at least 1 min.B) Place the unit in a zip lock bag with the salt solution (Standard salt procedure)C) Leave it in the bag for at lease 8 hrs.D) While still in the bag press and hold the button on the front for at lease 24 secs.This will cause the unit to display 75% RH.Make certain you hold the button until it displays 75% RHThats it. Its now calibrated. put it back in your humidor. Hope this helps

For the price, no. I put mine in a sealed bag with a boveda 69% for hours, I took the battery back out. I tried holding the center button for minutes at a time to reset it. It just sits there saying 40% humidity. But I didn't get it through amazon so it is landfill bound.

I needed several hygrometers for my multi-shelf, cabinet style egg hatcher. I purchased several different models and all were in spec with each other. As a result of accurate temperature and humidity readings, I had a great hatch rate.
