I tried this with the lamp shade that I have on my ceiling fan light and this fit perfectly. The only thing was that the color doesn't match too closely as this is darker and warmer-toned. Otherwise it is pretty thick and diffuses light well. It's two-layered with the rattan material and the actual light diffusing material.

These brown linen-like discs soften the light of the lamp they are mounted on. I attached one to a desk lamp whose diameter is slightly less than 8” by simply using scotch tape. It’s not the fanciest method but it works. Included in the two-pack were 18 “3M" double-sided adhesive discs of about 1” diameter. I’m not sure how those would be used in a conventional lamp, but I used four of them to place one of the linen discs on a LED floor lamp that has one large diffuser. It had an overall softening affect which I appreciate because this floor lamp was fairly bright at its softest setting.

Absolutely perfect for my IKEA hanging lamp! I felt that the light was too intense to sit under but diffusing the light made a big difference. Fits perfect. A little expensive but I'm satisfied
