The sets of tines are not curved toward each other. As a result the spaghetti wants to slip the grip.I solved the design flaw by taking the tongs to my shop and clamping them next to a piece of 3/4" pipe in a vice. Then, using a soft face hammer, I formed the tines around the pipe. Now they work as required.
