The painting by numbers kits are a terrific way to learn composition, plus a great stepping stone for painting on your own. Each project includes a pre-printed artist board, practice sheet, acrylic paints, paint brush and instructions. The large, 12-3/4-inch by 15-3/4-inch, format of the junior large painting by numbers was selected to offer a project that was a bit more challenging than ourjunior small series and the introduction of color mixing takes it to the next level. Conforms to ASTM D4236. Recommended for children ages 8 and up.

The packaging on this product is VERY poor. The paint pots are not enclosed and one has spilled before I even got to give this to my niece. Wish I could return it.

Says it is for 8 years old and up - I think they are pretty far off on that estimate. Even adults might find this challenging!

Grand daughter loved this gift she received at xmas. She is crazy about horses--actually has 3 live ones--so she was entertained for hours after opening gifts.

Item arrived missing the #3 paint. Not sure how this item can be pulled off the shelf and packaged without anyone noticing that one of the paints was missing from its slot? Seems pretty careless to me.

I am 27, this is my first complete painting job (*with the assistance of guides) and It took me six long hours to complete this beautiful painting. The only flaw I found is that there are no labels on the paint cans, and if somehow the cardboard got thrown out you would have to just be imaginative on which colors go where. I labeled the cans as soon as I started to avoid my own over-zelous cleaning habits of recycling ASAP. The canvas should have really been larger for the portrait, as there were lines which were impossible to stay in. I just made sure that the horse edges were defined and tried not to worry so much about the other lines, and it came out more gorgeous than I could have ever imagined. Do not fear about the paint, it feels like there is not enough on every stroke made, but I ended up with extra. Still made me go crazy wanting more for just in case or to be able to mix larger batches of combos.

Bought this as a gift for 11 year-old nice. A big hit. I haven't heard how the paint is or if the whole thing works well, but perhaps no news is good news.
