Arrived with no instructions, but easy enough to find on Rugged Ridge website. I found a YouTube video on install as well so combining the video with written instructions made the install a little easier. The top brackets are somewhat difficult. I recommend feeding a long piece of fishing line through the hole in the hood above the hole that the top brackets go in, loop it through the open hole on the inner bracket and secure it from the top hole somehow in case you accidentally unscrew it while you are trying to rotate it around to fit it in place....if you don't secure it and it comes loose it will fall down inside your hood. Once you've got it in place and the first bolt secured you can cut the line and remove it from the top hole.Update: Been installed less than a year and the struts have already leaked and no longer hold the hood up

Was a great addition to my JK. Just take your time and watch the installation video on YouTube. Not very easy to install the hood part but it can be done.

Es un poco complicado instalarlos pero tienes la ventaja que no hay que perforar y una vez colocados funcionan excelente, esos si, son bastante mas costosos que otras opciones y no lo valen

AFTER: I loved this this hood lift until I noticed the damage it caused. I now have a 3/4" gap between the cowl and the hood. The hydraulic lift is so powerful that it bent the hinge brackets on my hood. This is also causing the hood latches to be misaligned, which stretches the rubber. I googled it and this is a known issue. Look at the pics. You can see the gap, see the stretched/crooked ltches, and most of all see how the hinge bracket is bent forward from the pressure these lifts did.BEFORE: What a pain in the butt to install...but SO worth it. Getting the brackets inside the holes in the hood was a serious chore. You have to loosen the screw to the point that it'll fall out if you twist the parts. Then you have to wiggle it around once the back plate goes in the hole until you can line up the other hole. I even cross-threaded one bolt and nearly ruined it.Even with all that trouble, I love this hood lift kit. I wish I had gotten it sooner! It was SO worth the effort.

This is an excellent addition to the jeep and fairly simple to install .. I've already had several people ask me where I got this product. Having said all that, I also had an issue with my hood shifting forward .. I had read that in some of the reviews so it wasn't a complete surprise. The passenger side is worse than the drivers side but it will still need to be adjusted .. I'm not sure what causes it because there really isn't much pressure from the lifts themselves. Hopefully this won't happen to you, but be prepared .. Otherwise awesome kit

I'm giving it 4 stars because I ordered it through Amazon and received the wrong part. I returned it and a week later the right part came, install was a breeze. I put this on a 2007 JK Unlimited and fits perfectly. It makes it much easier to open and close without a struggle. Like other reviews the only hard part was the backing plate near the middle of the hood, all I did was thread one bolt on the plate and push realitvly hard and it popped right into place. I would reccomend getting all the brackets into place then snapping the shocks in last right after the other. It pushes with enough force to open the hood with a bug deflector and some lights on the hood. Great fit, and keep the hood stable on the highway. Would reccomend.

This is a great product, what Jeep should have installed at the factory. If you hate the weight of the hood and dealing with the support rod, you will love this. I might add that the install is a little bit tricky, at least it was for me. But, if you are used to using normal tools like socket wrenches and are decent at visualizing an installation, you will be fine. I suspect that only people with minimal tool knowledge should order this.

Wrong photo, right product! I did not receive what was in the photo, with the silver hood brackets and no lower body brackets. What I received was what I saw on several youtube videos and it works fantastic! Nice fit, nice quality and nice operation. No drilling or cutting (except a 2" share of hood insulation on each side) and good clearances. Highly recommended!

This kit works great. The install of the brackets that fit into holes in the hood are a little tricky but not terribly hard. Overall install took about 15 minutes. Very pleased.NOTE: Be very careful when installing the brackets that slide inside the hood framing... if one of those pieces were to come of the machine screw you are using as a handle, it would slide down inside the hood framing and I don't see any way you could retrieve it. You would have to try and get the company to send you another piece.

If you have ever lifted a vehicle, you know it is nearly impossible to get the hood rod in place without climbing up on the bumper. My Jeep is stock height now and it is close to the limit but now it goes up and stays up on its own. Once my lift kit goes on, there will be no way to reach. Simple downward pressure on either side brings it back down and it was a breeze to install with no drilling required on my 2013 JK. I was shorted two flat washers and used a longer bolt to slide the backer bracket into the hood and hold the bracket until I got the kit bolt started to prevent letting it slide down into the hood. My JK had an additional factory bracket on the drivers side but it fit over the kit bracket just fine. Good product, well made kit.
