does not fit mtd mower unless you do a TON of trimming in-between those mounting holes on that plastic pull start assembly. i had to cut out 4 sections ..so that that assembly could sit down onto the mounting studs, what a nightmare.. and the original cover plate now cannot sit down over the pull start assembly like it normally does... so you have to run it with no cover or do even more jerry riging to get the short small cover srews to reach their mounting holes.. that new assembly is ALSO taller that the original one...it wont fit unless you do a ton of trimming here and there.. i used a 4 1/2" electric cut off saw to trim the thing, but a small sheet rock saw or moto tool can also get the trimming done. after trimming it there is no binding and it pull starts just fine. maybe its just MY model? that has this problem? mtd 11a-41mbo29407-896... maybe other models mtd will match up just fine??

It fit my pulsar self propelled mower. I’m guessing it will fit a lot of mowers with a 3 bolt pattern. It was super easy to install, and it seems like decent quality. I’d say it’s a good value for what you get.

Was hesitant about buying this from amazon and for the price being so much less that OEM. To my surprise it fit perfect and did exactly what I needed it to. Looks exactly the same as OEM and works exactly the same too. Very simple to install.
