They are easy to install if you have the tools. They are aluminum I believe. Worst thing is drilling into the side of your RV but it's not so bad once you start. Have not gone down the road yet but they seem like they will support the awnings from bouncing and therefore stop something from breaking or coming loose. Gave them a 3 star only because they didn't come with butyl tape that you need to keep them from leaking.
