This is a little complicated for a toddler. We introduced it in stages where he could put the simple pieces together and run a short track. The entire setup does require adult input but has so many add ons that it is fun.

I wanted to get my child (2 years old) a train set for Christmas. I debated and went back and forth from many different ones before finally deciding on this one. Based off of the pictures and reviews this seemed like a good pick. However I am sad to say, what I expected vs. what I got was two completely different experiences. The pieces barely fit together, and they are not a snug or tight fit. The train tracks are loose, so all it takes is one wrong bump and it all comes apart. You try telling a 2 year old gently play with something. The color of the tracks look like they maybe came from 3 different train sets. Some are dark colored where others are light. Just extremely disappointed with this set.

I like the smooth wood finish on all pieces. Perfect size for a two year old ‘s hands. The tracks offer many different ways of arranging them. The signs, trees, people are unobtrusive but add to the imaginative possibilities. Love the draw bridge!

This is a lovely train set and made a great birthday gift for our toddler. We actually hot glued the pieces to a board we painted green so that he doesn't throw them around everywhere. This way he can focus on driving the trains and building his little town. There are a lot of fun little parts and pieces to play with, and he especially likes the fish and the "kids". It does fit his Melissa and Doug trains on the tracks, but the tunnel parts are not tall enough for some of the taller trains to drive under, so that does cause some frustration. I do recommend assembling the entire set together first before attempting to hot glue pieces if you're going that route, because we definitely had some difficulty getting things to line up just right. Overall, a super fun set with everything a kid needs to play trains!

My toddler gets bored with toys easily. There are only a few toys that he keeps going back to. This is one of them. I liked the size of this track, not too big, not too small. I just wish it had came with a cross track section, but those can be bought separately. The only issue was the bridge. While using a motorized train, it sometimes catches on the strings used to pull up the sections. It's held together by glue. It fell apart with my toddlers roughness. I drilled some holes and put screws into it. It is solid now.
