My toddler got this train set for Christmas he is 2 years old. He loves it and gets it out often to play with. He builds and I help him. One piece did break when he threw it it was part of the track.

Good train set for a toddler. Not as nice as some more expensive brands, but a 2 year old can’t tell the difference. The container is nice to keep all the pieces together.

Well designed and finished with smooth edges for safety. Easy to put together and take apart and provides hours of fun for kids. Grade schooler rated this as ten out of ten!

This train set is a classic and reminiscent of days gone by. The wooden pieces fit together beautifully to create a figure 8 with the bridge allowing the track to run beneath it or it can also go in an oval-ish shape. The train colors are bright, vibrant, primary colors with contrasting wheels. An educationally engaging toy that immediately was teaching our tiny tot that pushing doesn't work as well as pulling from the engine. It kept her attention in play and helped her to understand assembly in addition to putting it neatly away. So many things to learn including imaginative play with cause and effect. Plenty of track, signs, buildings, animals, train engine and train cars that attach together mostly of solid, smooth wood built to last. It arrives nicely boxed with a storage container to keep it all together with a handle to carry on top. Awesome classic toy.

This train set was easy for my 6 year old to build together as it came with clear instructions. My 4 year old is who had fun playing with it. The trains’ magnet is strong enough to hold all trains and the track is smooth. I like that it came with some people figures and animal figures and pretend buildings, it’s just more things for the imagination. Probably more appropriate for kids under 5.

This little train set was a great gift for my almost 2 year old. My 5 year old was a bit more into building it according to the instructions but my younger daughter just enjoyed putting the pieces together in whatever order and pushing the little trains around. I was impressed by the quality and the pieces fit together/connected nicely. The accessories are adorable and let you create more immersive “feel” than just the track alone.

I recently picked up this wooden train set for my gaggle of grandkids under 5, and it was an instant hit (check out the image I’m sharing!). The kids dove right in, unpacked everything, set it up following the instructions, and even came up with a few of their own creative track designs. The set isn’t huge, but it’s well-made. The track is double-sided, the four train cars are solid and colorful, and it comes with adorable accessories—houses, people, traffic signs, and trees—all packed neatly in a handy case.A few days after we opened it, my son brought over a Brio set his older children don’t use anymore, and just like the box promised, this Sain Smart Jr. set works perfectly with it. Now, the kids can make a much larger track, and it’s pretty much the first thing they want to play with whenever they visit. All in all, this is a great value for a wooden train set. It seems just as good as the more expensive name brands and totally compatible with them. Whether you’re starting fresh or adding to your existing collection, this set is a fantastic choice. I highly recommend it.

This is a great small set that comes in a storage box. The hill/bridge pieces are plastic and require a plastic ‘peanut’ and some small signs are plastic, but the rest of the set is wood. My toddler is smitten with helping assemble the track and she enjoys the drama of derailing the trains. The woodwork is a little rough, not splintery, but not the finest. It seems like it should be compatible with other wood train tracks but I’m not 100% on that. The figure 8 configuration is fun and smooth, the trains stay on the track when freely going down the hill and around the bend. I needed the instructions the first few times to get the layout correct. I also added a picture of another layout we figured out using all the pieces, the bridge is a little “tight”/wedged in but it otherwise works and makes another contiguous loop (because it’s unacceptable to my child that the train tracks not complete a circuit.)The train magnets are sufficiently strong. The train cars are a good size for little hands, I think they’re shorter lengthwise than the train cars I see with the nice set at our library. Overall this is a great value with a big impact and a small storage requirement.
