I have used much better tools to tighten a barb wire fence than these and were more reliable and easy to use. Unfortunately, those tools are either no longer made or the company has gone out of business. So I purchased these instead.

I wish the manufacturer had a how-to video. Box comes with no instructions. Web site shows a few pictures. So low score for helping the user to figure out how to use it.I think I figured it out from the photos on the web site. I did get it to put one roll to tighten a loose strand of barbed wire, and the arm with the hook did hold it. However the metal bent, leading it to slide almost out of the wire loop. Worse, after just two tighteners, the tool itself is starting to bend (specifically the flat portion that goes into the metal loop).I wouldn’t buy this again. Too bad, it’s a good idea. With better instructions (how about a video?) I might have better technique. A stronger tool might hold up longer.

Does the job well but can be tricky as the part twists and can fall off before tensioning is complete. Best to use heavy duty leather cloves to hold it in place and stop it twisting as you tighten it and lock it in place
